The primary role of the Food and Nutrition department is to provide meals for our residents.  Each resident building has a kitchen area from which residents are served meals in their rooms, lounges, and dining rooms.

For resident and family convenience, menus are placed on each nursing unit.  These weekly menus will provide information regarding the three (3) meals served each day.  Also, each resident, diet permitting, will have the opportunity to have an evening snack provided to him/her.

At the time of their admission each resident will have the opportunity to speak with their dietitian.  At that time, and throughout their stay, we will discuss with them or a family member their food preferences and any restrictions that may be placed on their diets.  The dietitian will develop a personalized diet based on individual preferences and medical considerations.  The resident can continually update and revise their menu and preferences with their dietitian.  It is our goal to provide a menu which meets not only their therapeutic needs but will provide items they may have enjoyed at home.  Each day we provide a main choice and an alternative together with several options and a variety of sandwiches available at each meal.

There is a cafeteria located on the ground floor of building 8 which is open Monday – Friday for breakfast (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM), lunch (11:00 AM – 1:30 PM) and dinner (3:30 PM – 5:30 PM).  The cafeteria is open for lunch and dinner on weekends.  The department provides special catering needs for the entire Fair Acres community.
